Local transport in Stuttgart – No S-Bahn to the airport for three weeks
From Monday, September 9, the railroad will close the line from Stuttgart-Vaihingen to the Airport and to Filderstadt for three weeks. This will affect the S-Bahn lines 1, 2 and 3, which will also only run to a limited extent on the sections of the line that will continue to operate.
The S 1 will only run every half hour between Schwabstraße and Herrenberg, and the route will be divided in Vaihingen. Buses will be used to replace the S-Bahn trains that are canceled. The S2E line starts at the bus station in Vaihingen and runs to Filderstadt. It serves all S-Bahn stops en route. The buses run every 15 minutes from Monday to Friday between 5.30 a.m. and 10 a.m., otherwise every otherwise every 30 minutes.
There will be a deviation from this on Sunday, September 15. Numerous roads will be closed due to the “Brezel Race” cycling event. On this day, the replacement buses will run on two different routes. At minute 18 and 48, a route will start in Vaihingen and travel to Leinfelden via Rohr and Oberaichen. At minute 16 and 46, the bus departs from Vaihingen and serves the stops Echterdingen, Flughafen and Filderstadt.
Visitors to the International Exhibition for Metalworking AMB, which takes place at the Landesmesse from September 10 to 14, are recommended to take the U 6 light rail line.
Early in the morning, an SEV3 bus will run from the main station to the Airport to ensure that early departures are also reached. The bus departs from Arnulf-Klett-Platz at 4.50 am and arrives at the airport at 5.18 am. However, this bus is only in operation from Monday to Friday. From Böblingen, the railroad will use the replacement bus line XEV, which will travel to the airport without stopping. (Stgt Nachrichten, Sep 4, 2024)
