Stuttgart Airport – What destinations are changing in the winter?
If you want to fly from Stuttgart’s Manfred Rommel Airport to the Persian Gulf, you can reach the destination Dubai starting Sunday without changing planes. However, those whose destination is North America have less of a chance. The only direct flight from the Stuttgart to the USA, a connection with Delta Air Lines to Atlanta, will be paused during winter starting on Sunday. Ulrich Heppe, spokesman for the management of the Stuttgart airport company (FSG), is pleased on one hand about the new destination in Asia, and can get over the temporary loss of the flight to North America. Delta has agreed to return to Stuttgart for the 2024 summer flight schedule, he said Friday. The prestigious connection had long been fought for at Stuttgart, after it was discontinued in 2020 in the course of the railroad renovation. “In regards to the number of passengers, the basis for comparison is 2019, when we had a lot of low-cost carriers in Stuttgart, but that stopped again during COVID,” Heppe said. If these low-cost carriers are excluded, Stuttgart is now back at 75 to 80 percent of the pre-COVID figures. The expected 8.3 million passengers will probably be reached this year. “We are on a stable recovery path,” says Heppe. (Stuttgarter Nachrichten, Oct 30)

Long shopping night in Stuttgart on Saturday
Buses and streetcars in Stuttgart can be used free of charge on Saturday, November 4. This regulation applies for “Zone 1” of the public traffic group Stuttgart (VVS), to which also belongs Fellbach and Korntal Münchingen, besides Stuttgart. The reason for the free local transport is, among other things, the long shopping night “Stuttgart leuchtet” (Stuttgart shines), when the stores are open until 10 pm. “This campaign is intended to encourage people to come to Stuttgart’s city center by bus and streetcar, for example to shop, stroll or enjoy culture,” says the VVS.
The “Königsbau” becomes a projection surface for a 3D laser show; this will all happen during the “Long Shopping Night” in Stuttgart this Saturday.

“Wintertraum” event has opened in down-town Stuttgart – Roller skates instead of ice skates
The “Wintertraum” event has finally opened at the Schlossplatz near the Old Castle, with sweet music from the loudspeakers, however, there is no trace of winter anywhere. This was the case again at the opening, and even at its 25th anniversary, there isn’t any trace of cold, not to mention snowflakes. However, the organizers were prepared for it: For many years, the main focus was the ice rink: everyone who wanted to and could was allowed to move on artificial ice in the middle of the city, as well as the little ones, who could hold on to figures to dare their first steps on the slippery surface.
However, last winter already the ice skates stayed packed, and roller skates were unpacked. Therefore: this year again, the “winter dream” is an event for roller skating; Those who have their own can bring them along; those who don’t, can rent some on site. Roller skates instead of ice skates – a wise decision in view of climate change.
The winter dream will be in operation up to and including January 7. And, of course, the booths around it with all kinds of food and drink. (Stuttgarter Nachrichten November 2)

Over the weekend, it will rain again and again – most in the Black Forest, on the Ostalb and in the Allgäu. “There will be continuous rain there,” the DWD spokesman said. Rainfall amounts could reach into the severe weather range. Temperatures will range between 9 and 12 degrees. In the night to Saturday, there may be frost in areas near the ground.
