2024 holiday postal mailing dates and Saturday hours

UPDATE, DEC. 20: Although Dec. 24, 2024, will be a federal holiday, per presidential executive order, CMRs will remain open that day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for package pickup.

Saturday hours for postal facilities

Community Mail Room (CMR) Saturday Hours

In addition to normal Monday through Friday hours, the customer service window at all Community Mail Rooms will be open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the following Saturdays:

Nov. 23 and 30

Dec. 7, 14 and 21

Jan. 4

CMRs are closed on federal holidays (incl. Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day) and all Sundays. They will be open limited hours on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Army Post Office (APO) Saturday Hours

Army Post Offices at Kelley Barracks, Panzer Kaserne, and Patch Barracks will be open on the following Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

Nov. 23 and 30

Dec. 7 and 14

APOs are closed on federal holidays (incl. Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day) and all Sundays. All APOS will be closed Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.


Mailing Deadlines and Transit Times

For items to arrive by Dec. 25, the U.S. Postal Service recommends mailing APO items by:

22 Nov 24: SAM / Retail Ground Parcels

9 Dec 24: Priority Parcels

9 Dec 24: First-Class Letters and Cards

17 Dec 24: Express Mail (for authorized locations)

Mail Transit Time From Stuttgart to CONUS

Express mail:                                2-5 days

Priority/1st Class:                           4-10 days

Partial Airlift (PAL):                       2-4 Weeks

Space Available Mail (SAM):        4-6 Weeks

Got a few packages to send out? Make an appointment for holiday mailing by using the USAG Stuttgart mobile app or visiting the Appointments page on the Stuttgart Citizen website.

Appointments are available for the one hour period prior to Army Post Offices opening for business.
