The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center is inviting all DoD personnel whose German and/or Hindi proficiency is between ILR 0+ to 3 to help with test validation of a new DLPT’s.
Both German and Hindi WBFT consist of field test forms in the listening and reading skills. The German WBFT has four field-test forms in each skill modality. The Hindi WBFT has three field-test forms in each skill modality. As in the case of the routine tests, students will be allowed a maximum of three hours to complete each test form, plus additional time to provide feedback.
No test taker is required to complete all eight versions, but, from the standpoint of DLI, the more who do so, the better the composite test results will be. Those who do not have time to complete all of the forms in both skills, are, nevertheless, asked to complete all of the forms for at least one skill.
In addition to a sneak peek at the questions, test takers will be provided with test results for each completed of each field-test form. Furthermore, each participant will be recognized via a certificate of appreciation signed by the Assistant Commandant of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC).
This is a win-win situation for everybody; examinees benefit from a “sneak peek” at future test questions, DLIFLC benefits from the collection of more data from more participants, and most importantly, the Defense Foreign Language Program and future examinees benefit from the production of more reliable, valid, and fair tests of language proficiency.
DLPT testing within the U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart is conducted at the Panzer Education Center, Building 2915 on Panzer Kaserne. Website: http://www.stuttgart.army.mil/services-education.html.
