Kessel Festival

The successful premiere of the Kessel Festival in Stuttgart took place in summer 2019. The new, sustainable music, sports and culture festival on the Cannstatter Wasen, in the riding stadium and on the Neckar River attracted around 28,000 visitors. Planning for the new edition of the Kessel Festival is in full swing: On June 25 and 26, 2022, the Cannstatter Wasen will once again become a colorful festival for everyone in the heart of Stuttgart.
Away from Stuttgart’s high culture, Kessel Festival forms and offers a versatile platform for the entire region. In addition to established, international top stars of the music scene on the main stage and young, up-and-coming musicians on the cultural stage, sports and fun sports areas of all renowned (ball) sports clubs from and around the Kessel invite visitors to participate and watch. Sustainability at your fingertips is offered at the integrated Übermorgen market and an interactive children’s and family program rounds off the Kessel Festival as something special for visitors of all ages.
Music
On the main stage, musical top acts of different genres will inspire up to 25,000 people on both festival days.
Sports
In addition to international live music, visitors will be offered an extensive and interactive sports program. As was the case at the premiere of the Kessel Festival 2019, many major sports clubs from the city and region will once again be taking part in 2022 with an interactive participatory program, including the MHP Giants, who will be serving up casual beats and delicious burgers from BBQ Boss in addition to a diverse basketball court. Other opportunities to get involved await in the Stuttgart Reds hitting tunnel or at the “American Football Experience” course of the AMC Silver ARROWS, where great prizes await the best participant of each day. Visitors can also look forward to the Bagjump, Street Racket, Stand Up Paddling, Dragon Boat and other water sports activities on the Neckar, which are already highly frequented in 2019.
A new sporting highlight comes flying over the Cannstatter Wasen in the form of the E-Freestyle Motocross Show Germany premiere. Mat Rebaud has been the face of freestyle motocross in Switzerland for over 20 years. The Frenchman was world champion, overall winner of the Red Bull X-Fighters and won a silver medal at the X-Games. Now he is opening a new chapter again: He is the first and so far only freestyle motocrosser in Europe to fly on a machine with an electric motor. “The thrust is completely different, I had to get used to it first. But in the meantime I master the same jumps as before. ” But it’s not just the environment that’s happy about the electric-powered engine, Mat is too: “I can train in the evenings or on Sundays. If I did that with a classic FMX machine, there would be noise complaints. Mat is still the only one on the silent machine everywhere, but it’s foreseeable that it won’t stay that way.
At the “Best of Streetdance-SHOW Baden-Württemberg 2022” dance crews from all over Baden-Württemberg will present their own styles. After the long Corona restrictions, the dancers are looking forward to show their skills live on a stage in front of an audience: Popping, Locking, Krumping, Breaking – there are versatile performances to see. Free-style battles and participatory activities round off the program.
Übermorgen Markt
On an area of more than 3,500 m², visitors to the Übermorgen Markt will experience around 100 innovative and sustainable exhibitors as well as partners from the fields of new mobility, fair fashion, natural cosmetics, social and cultural initiatives, start-ups, NGOs and business. The largest interactive open-air event on the topic of sustainability in Germany invites you to stroll and participate.
Children and families
In the lovingly decorated riding stadium, children and families will be offered numerous creative stations by the Stuttgart Youth Center under colorful pennants: whether at the Circus Circuli hands-on circus for young & old, in the children’s atelier or at the children’s make-up station.
The KESSEL FESTIVAL offers plenty of space to let off steam and have fun. For example in the BURTON Riglet Park: true to the motto “early practice makes perfect”, this park offers a special kind of snowboarding experience designed for children. For the time afterwards, our rest oases offer plenty of space for the whole family to relax.
VinoKilo
Vintage lovers will get their money’s worth at Germany’s biggest Vintage Kilo Sale: here you can find colorful vintage treasures with great music and a great vintage atmosphere!
VinoKilo sees itself as a social enterprise that runs Germany’s largest pop-up events for secondhand clothing, selling the garments at a price per kilo. Part of the philosophy is to encourage and make people aware that clothing can be considered a timeless work of art.
Young Wine Village
The young wine village presents a fine selection of young vintners from the Stuttgart region. With relaxed DJ sound, the young vintners pour their favorite homegrown wines. On the sun terrace of the young wine village, visitors can enjoy the hottest wines – Cheers!
