Information provided by Directorate of Public Works
On-post residents
On-post residents may drop off used, real Christmas trees at the following locations through approx. January 31, 2024:
- Patch Barracks: Parking lot adjacent Bldg. 2505 (Swabian Special Events Center)
- Panzer Kaserne: Across from Bldg. 3111 in family housing area
- Robinson Barracks: Adjacent Bldg. 196 (RB Commissary)
- Kelley Barracks: Adjacent Bldg. 3360 (follow Birchstrasse between CYS and Fitness Center to DPW yard)
Trees must be bare, with no tinsel or ornaments.
Artificial/plastic trees, and any real trees that have had spray paint or fake snow added, must go in residual waste containers and not in the collection containers for real trees.
Trees must not be placed in trash islands around installations, but rather ONLY in the officially designated drop-off points above.
Off-post residents
Trees from off post are NOT permitted to be dropped in on-post containers. Your local municipality will have its own designated drop-off locations for real Christmas trees, and may also accept them at recycling centers.
Search online for “Weihnachtsbaum Sammelstelle [where you live]” if you cannot find a location near you through public signage. Plastic trees should be placed in residual waste.
Off-post collection generally begins January 7. Depending on the municipality and the specific site, collection may take place several times. However, do not leave a tree at a location which has been cleared and no longer has signage designating it as an active drop-off point; doing so can subject you to a fine.
Stuttgart
The city of Stuttgart operates approximately 180 collection points throughout the city starting Dec. 26. Click here to view a full list (under the heading “Übersicht der Weihnachtsbaumsammelplätze).
Trees may be placed in these marked locations until Jan. 8. After Jan. 8, they may only be placed in locations which are still marked and from which trees have not yet been collected.
