Circus, Gospel concert, and Silent Disco

Böblingen District. Clearly, there will be a little less going on over Easter than usual. Nevertheless, there are still all sorts of events, so no one should get bored. Here are our tips and ideas for the long weekend.”

After three and a half years of COVID-related restrictions, the Waldenbuch Gospel Choir is singing again for the first time in the St. Veit town church. With three concerts, all gospel fans have the opportunity to experience this year’s Easter project.

The first one is on Maundy Thursday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.). There will be two more concerts on Good Friday, April 7 at 5 p.m. (doors open at 4:30 p.m.) and at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.).

From Thursday, April 6 until April 23, the Hofmeister Easter Circus in Sindelfingen will open its tent again. Visitors can expect a colorful, exciting, and entertaining program for the whole family. For around 60 minutes, international artists will thrill the audience with spectacular performances, providing lots of laughter and amazement.

Opening times during the Easter holidays and on Saturdays and Sundays (April 6-16, including Easter Sunday and Monday) are 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. On weekdays (except during the holidays from April 17-21), shows will be at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. (There will be no performances on Good Friday, April 7.) Under the overall direction of Michael Kuhn, the choir of the Johanneskirche Sindelfingen, together with the symphonic wind orchestra of the Stadtkapelle Sindelfingen, will perform Karl Jenkins’ “Stabat Mater” at the Johanneskirche (as reported by SZ/BZ).

The Passion concert will be performed twice: on Maundy Thursday, April 6, at 8 p.m., and on Good Friday, April 7, at 3 p.m., at the Johanneskirche in Sindelfingen. The liturgy will be conducted by Pastor Dr. Jens Schnabel. Admission is free for both performances.

There will be a gospel passion concert on Friday, April 7 at 7 pm in the Evangelical Church in Gärtringen featuring singer Tracey Jane Campbell from London. In the concert, the story of Jesus’ suffering and resurrection will be poignantly illustrated through film excerpts and readings.

Tickets are available in advance at the Gärtringer Dekolädle from Manfred Unger, phone 07034/23626, or at the box office.

Saturday

At the last “Sindelfingen Rocks” event, it was held on the market square, and now it’s coming to the pavilion of the IG Kultur in Sindelfingen: a “silent disco” for young people aged 16 and over, organized by the Youth Civic Foundation Sindelfingen. On Saturday, April 8 at 8 pm.

Each guest will receive a pair of headphones that receive 3 different channels, each playing different music genres: pop, schlager, and electro. The two DJs Daven-Liam Klestil and Thomas Til will be there to create a great atmosphere. See also www.igkultur.de online.

The annual performance by the rock-blues-soul band “Souled Out” at the Ottenbronner cult venue “Schwarzes Schaf” is taking place on Saturday, April 8, at 8:30 pm.

Since 2005, the band led by charismatic rock and blues shouter Ralf Lutz has gained a steadily growing fan base. They will perform songs by the Allman Brothers, J.J. Cale, Jimi Hendrix, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Robert Johnson, Keb ‘Mo, Marvin Gaye, and Ray Charles. Admission tickets for the concert at Hirsauer Straße 66 in Althengstett-Ottenbronn are available at the box office.

Easter Sunday

Early risers take note: the interfaith dialogue in the Böblingen region “Near to Heaven” invites you to light the Easter fire and an Easter candle in a small ceremony on Easter Sunday, April 9, at 5:45 am. The meeting point is at the bridge on the Long Lake on the Böblingen airfield (access and parking possible from the new hospital). The ceremony, which includes lighting a personal Easter candle, lasts about an hour. The sun will rise in the middle of the ceremony and make Easter tangible. Contact and inquiries can be made by email at boeblingen@emk.de or by phone at 0 70 31 / 22 05 70.

For the first time this year, the Johanneskirchengemeinde Sindelfingen will perform a live Easter play during the Easter service.

The script and three Easter songs composed for the Easter play are by Reverend Dr. Jens Schnabel of the Johanneskirchengemeinde. The Easter service with the Easter play can be attended on Easter Sunday, April 9, at 10:30 am in the Johanneskirche Sindelfingen.

Easter Monday

Not only on Easter Monday, but every day and therefore also over the Easter weekend, the exhibition about Hans Herrmann can be seen at the Motorworld on the airfield between Sindelfingen and Böblingen. Herrmann celebrated his 95th birthday a few days ago (as reported by SZ/BZ).

The special exhibition on the gallery level in the trade hall shows film excerpts, photos, car models, and historical newspaper articles. The opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 7:30 am to 8 pm, Sundays and holidays from 10 am to 8 pm, and admission is free.
