U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart
A medical-grade mask that covers your mouth and nose is required to patronize off-post retail stores or to use public transportation in the state of Baden-Württemberg, effective January 25.
Medical-grade masks range from light blue single-use surgical masks to FFP2 or N95/KN95-certified respirators. Homemade cloth masks, or covering the mouth and nose with a scarf or other fabric in the absence of other protection, will no longer be acceptable when shopping or riding transit off-post (including at train platforms and bus stops). Community members who do not comply with this new requirement may be refused entry or fined by German authorities. Children five years old and under are exempt.
The “medical mask” requirement also applies to doctor’s offices, while access to hospitals requires an FFP2, KN95, or N95 mask; a surgical mask is not acceptable there.
